Leslie A. Burgk is a highly-trained and experienced
intellectual property attorney. She is admitted to practice
law in the State of Florida and before the United States’
District Court for the Southern District of Florida. In
addition to a juris doctorate, Mrs. Burgk received a
master’s in intellectual property law from Franklin Pierce
Law Center one of the consistently, top ranked law schools
in the nation for intellectual property law. She also
studied copyright and entertainment law at Bond University
in Queensland, Australia and has been able to draw on her
experience as well as contacts she developed at the
university to assist clients with international intellectual
property matters.
Mrs. Burgk has experience working for a large,
general practice law firm located in Boston, Massachusetts as
well as a medium-sized IP boutique firm in Coral Gables,
Florida and a small IP boutique firm in Stuart, Florida.
Mrs. Burgk founded the Law Office of Leslie A. Burgk, P.A.
in 2006.
“Starting my own law practice has provided me the
flexibility to choose the clients I represent and the
ability to render legal services to my client’s in the
manner I would expect as a client. I value my client’s
businesses and will often take my own time to visit and
learn about my clients’ businesses and view their day-to-day
operations to ensure I understand the full extent of their
intellectual property legal needs. If my schedule does not
permit me to take on new matters, I will refer the matters
to other attorneys before I compromise my commitment to
existing clients.”
Mrs. Burgk has successfully represented clients before
the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board in opposition and
cancellation proceedings. Mrs. Burgk recently negotiated a
six-figure settlement agreement in state court litigation
involving breach of a non-compete agreement. Her experience
while employed with other law firms included a counterfeit
trademark seizure, state court litigation involving
trademark infringement, recovery of cartoon characters
trapped in a defunct corporation, and the dismissal of
federal court class action litigation against a client who
was the assignee of a well-known trademark. She was also
involved in patent litigation both asserting and defending
claims of patent infringement and invalidity; one case
resulting in a multi-million dollar verdict and settlement
with a subsidiary of a fortune 100 company.
